Getting There
Phase 1: Dhaka / Chittagong ➔ Cox's Bazar
Travel from your hometown to Cox's Bazar city. Options include overnight highway AC/Non-AC buses, the direct Bangladesh Railway high-speed train (Cox's Bazar Express / Parjatak Express), or a 50-minute domestic flight.
Phase 2: Nunirchhara Ghat ➔ Saint Martin Island
Take an easy-bike or taxi to Nunirchhara BIWTA Ghat in Cox's Bazar. Board your verified tourist ship (MV Baro Aulia, MV Karnaphuly Express, etc.) at 07:00 AM. Cross the Bay of Bengal to arrive at Saint Martin Main Jetty at ~10:30–11:00 AM.
How to Travel from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar
1. Direct Train
The Cox's Bazar Express (Train 814) and Parjatak Express (Train 816) connect Dhaka Kamalapur to Cox's Bazar Iconic Railway Station in ~8 hours.
2. Highway Buses
Direct overnight coaches depart from Dhaka (Arambagh, Fakirapool, Sayedabad, Gabtoli) between 08:00 PM and 11:30 PM, reaching Cox's Bazar by 05:30 AM to 06:30 AM.
3. Domestic Flight
Direct flights from Dhaka (DAC) to Cox's Bazar (CXB) take ~55 minutes. You must fly the day before because morning flights arrive after the 07:00 AM ship departure.
The Return Journey: Saint Martin to Dhaka
1. 02:30 PM: Arrive at the Saint Martin Main Jetty. Return ships commence passenger boarding.
2. 03:00 PM Sharp: Ships depart Saint Martin and cruise back to Cox's Bazar Nunirchhara Ghat, docking between 06:30 PM and 07:00 PM.
3. Evening Connection: From Nunirchhara Ghat, take an easy-bike to Cox's Bazar bus terminals or railway station for evening departures back to Dhaka (buses run from 08:00 PM onward, overnight train departs at 08:00 PM or 10:30 PM).
Heads up
Check your departure terminal carefully. While ships traditionally departed from Teknaf Damdamia Ghat in past decades, the primary authorized departure point for recent seasons has been Nunirchhara BIWTA Ghat in Cox's Bazar town due to border security and navigation channels.
