Saint Martin is not connected to the national electrical grid. Almost all hotels run diesel generators from dusk (6:00 PM) until around 11:00 PM, and rely on solar-charged inverters for ceiling fans overnight. Air conditioning is typically available only during generator hours.

Freshwater Scarcity

Fresh groundwater on the island is very limited and fragile. Please practice water conservation by taking shorter showers and avoiding leaving taps running.
